Happy Black Music Month!!!!!!

This is the Man they call Chuck Berry. You might not know who this guy is but every rock and roll album after his coming was influenced by this brother right here. Every corny white boy and their band you can think of (rolling stones, beatles, the who, jerry lee lewis, elvis, the list goes on forever) shamelessly copied his style and reproduced his tracks to appeal to the wider audience. Even elvis's mom once told him "your good, but you're no chuck berry!" Read about him in history class, never really listened to his stuff. But after hearing cuts like this, "catch me if you can," "maybelline," "school days," johnny be good" (back to the future #1), i can see why he was so popular then and now.

I was talking to this young lady (who just happened to be caucasian) and she was telling me that she was going to st.louis to live so that she could occasionally see Chuck Berry show up at a local joint. Feeling kind of bad (because she had more of an appreciation for him then i did) i said "what choo know about chuck berry, all of the rock and roll artists from back in the day stole from him."

It's really ashamed that other people have more of an appreciation for our musical history then we do. Black music is the only music in this country that is trully original. We've had soooooooo many musical geniuses that have come and gone it's ridiculous (Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Louis Jordan, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, Sam Cooke).

Please know your history. Dr. Yosef Ben Jochannan said "your history is your power!"

Of the Hands, the Feet, and the Belly

He who foolishly leaves his relatives unprotected should know that he thus decieves himself.

Nor is anything of value to a man except his own, as appears in this story.

The feet and the hands being jealous, accused the belly, speaking in the fashion: "You alone hold all our gains and enjoy them.

To us falls the works, to you the pleasure. While we strive with pain, you eat and swallow with pleasure. So choose one of two things: learn a task with which you can maintain yourselfor suffer from creul hunger."

And so they ceased to support them.

The stomach not knowing how to maintain himself, in great humilty begged the help of each of them once, twice, and many times, but they refused him for many days, so that, being without food for a long time, the heat of the stomach died and thirst seized their throat, and thus nature fled

The feet and the hands, although too late, seeing that the whole body was going to die and they with it, brought food and edibles in abundance, but they did not profit it because the stomach could not tolerate the food.

So the body died and with it the hands and feet and stomach.

This fable means that NO ONE is sufficient unto himself, that every man needs relatives and friends, at that we must work each at own at his job, although it may seem to us that at first glance that we are working for others, for for the profit they derive from it will return to us in a roundabout way.

Thus, if we do for others, let us at least do it for the good we will recieve ourselves.

keating and keller: aesop's fables: with a life of aesop, 1993 pg. 103-04, University Press of Kentucky

Yeah some of us might be doing fabulously well, but we should not forget where we came from.

While the people who run this society are elevating a good number of black people to higher economic status. They are mowing a great deal of blacks down at the bottom down (imprisoning them en masse, terrible education in decreped schools, lack of sustainable employment etc.)

And this is what a lot of Blacks on the top will be saying if things get toooooooooo bad.

This is the lesson that we all should learn. We are in this thing together. No matter what we are all in the same boat.

Oh, and by the way, don't go to the site at the last part of the video if you love Obama, lol.

Of the Sun and the Avaricious and Envious Man

I know I have been slipping hard on the beloved fables of Aesop. Sue me lol!
Anyway, this is one of my favorites!

Of the Sun and the Avaricious and Envious Man

So great is the envy of some persons that they actually wish to endure harm so that others might suffer greater discomforts, as this fable tells.

Soveriegn Jupiter sent someone from his lofty throne to the sun to find out the unscrupulous wishes of men. At that time two persons came before the sun: one was avaricious, the other envious.

To them the sun said: "What would you like to ask for? Declare it in the knowledge that what you ask for first will be granted. The second thing you ask for will be doubled and given."

Hearing this, the avaricious man wanted the envious to ask first so that the avaricious man might have the same thing doubled, since he thought that the envious one would ask for riches.

The envious one, hearing this and considering what the avaricious man was to recieve doubled, was not able to restrain his envy, and so he asked that he have an eye taken out, because then they would take two from the greedy man.

The sun, seeing this, smiled at both and went up to jupiter and told him to what extent envy reigns amongst men: many wished to dangers so that their neighbors might endure greater evils and harm.

What joy it gives the petty and tarnished to have companions in their ills and misfortunes!

Be careful who you deal with. If they are envious of you they will never stop until they bring you down.

Would you get married after only knowing someone for a short period of time?

Interesting question. Many people say that most women are always ready to settle down. Not the ones that i've talked to lol. Most believe this but actually it's the men that are more willing to marry quicker than the women in this day and age because he needs someone to come home to so he can worry about other things in his life like being more productive in his career and achieving his other goals in life (or having someone to build and grow with). In this day and age the Black woman has a rough time finding a good partner because many black men are unemployed or underemployed, (many white men are too by the way) so he can't adeuately take care of his woman and child, or if they have any money at all they might not have any morals or kindness at all. But the black women's downfall is her low expectations and her unwilingness to hold back her scolding tongue sometimes. John Henrik Clarke, the late great historian and cultural critic said, her sharp tongue has driven more men from the home then poverty. Most women don't know that's it's easier to catch fly's with honey than with vinegar (my grandmother used to say).
But anyway, would YOU be willing to marry someone after only knowing them for a short period of time if you thought that your union could REALLY work?
Holla!!!!!!!!!!!!

INTRODUCING THE WONDERFUL AND MAGNIFISCENT AESOP'S FABLES THURSDAY CELEBRATION!

Since a lot of people (particularly Black women) think i'm dumb lol, at least on Thursday I'll be able to provide some insight from a wonderful source of information on the real workings of human nature AESOP!

So from now on i will publish one of Aesop's beloved fables every thursday to remind us of some of the things that human beings do (regardless of what they say) that we all should be aware of.

Here's how it's going to go. I'll start off with the story then i'll give the original moral of the story, then i'll give my take on the story (sorry) that will probably relate to someof the conditions that Black people face as a whole (i really am sorry)

So we'll start off on the first ever AESOP'S FABLES THURSDAY (YAY WOO HOOO, YES, YES, YES) with one of my dear favorite fables:

THE BUTCHER AND THE FLOCK

Relatives, friends or mates (black men and black women) who cannot agree with one another will come to a bad end, as the following fable tells us.

Some castrated sheep had been gathered together in a flock with the rams. Although the sheep realized that the butcher had come into the flock, they pretended not to see him.

Even when they saw one of their own seized by the butcher's deadly hands and taken away to be slaughtered, still the sheep were not afraid. Foolishly, they said to one another, 'He keeps his hands off me, he keeps his hands off you; let him take whom he takes.'

In the end, there was only one sheep left. This is what he reportedly said to the butcher when he saw that he too was about to be taken away: 'We deserve to be slaughtered one after another since we didn't realize what was happening until it was too late.

The fact is, as soon as we saw you here in our midst, back when we were all together, we should have killed you at once by smashing you between our horns.'

This fable shows that people who do not keep an eye out for their own safety will be utterly destroyed by evil.

Many blacks think that we can watch members of our race get assaulted and used by the system and think that nothing is going to happen to us.

Time will tell.

When will we learn?

The following is for mature self-respecting black people who are tired of others getting away with unjustly mistreating us.

"there's more of us then them"
TUPAC SHAKUR

" Any police officer can shoot and kill any member of our community with impunity. They don’t mind doing it because they get a paid vacation when they do so. We have to create a security force with our own weapons, our own strategies and tactics, our own internal protection against any group of men who unfairly assaults any member of our group."

James Tubman

Comment i made from 7 Responsibilities Every Man Has To Fulfill In Life. Am I wrong about this?

Normally i don't talk about issues in the news because i don't let the media focus my attention on what they think i should be thinking about. But unfortunately this story got to me not necessarily because of the heinous nature of the crime (which we shouldn't be surprised about) but because of the typical response of our leadership (click here to read an account of the trial)

Everyday police officers unlawfully assault or murder members of our community. And almost everytime there is a major murder or assault committed against a member of our community, and the officers are prosecuted for their crimes, they are acquitted.

The local, state and federal governments have ignored or instigated the unjust treatment of our black men in the inner cities by policemen. They have turned a deaf ear to the cries, moans and harangues of the women crying in the streets after a police man has murdered their unarmed child in cold blood.

What do you do when the governement that you pledge allegiance to, that you travel to far away places to kill and labor for, that you swear to uphold and defend with your very life wants you dead? Sounds like an exaggeration right lol?

If you look at the census for a given year and look at the race of men that have been most frequently assaulted and killed by the police, you will find that the men that were killed were over 95% black. How do you explain this?

You mean white people never try to assault a cop or resist arrest? Do you watch cops lol? It happens all the time. Why don't you hear about white men being killed as frequently as black men by policemen?

How do you make a government that fails to see your humanity listen to you when you are being mistreated by them and they have basically gave a segment of the community a free pass to kill you if they want?

Please answer this question in the best way you possibly can.

Who is the celebrity, athlete, musician, actor, politician, activist, scholar you look up to the most?

We can tell a lot about ourselves based on the people we look up to. My favorite guy of all time is a man that many of you have never even heard of.

AMOS WILSON

Within the last 5 years of my life no other human being on earth has had more of a profound influence on my thinking than Dr. Amos Wilson. An afrocentric psychologists who analyzes european racism and how it still affects us today. He basically postulates that the problems that we have today in education, in our relationships, in the slums of the inner city, in the criminal justice system are due in part to racism and in part to the economic changes that are going on in the world with the rise of the asian world.

He believes that Afrikans from all over the continent are the same and should have the same goals in mind because the same plan the powers that be have for afrikan americans is the same plan they have for afrikans all over the world.

I won't go on and on about him. He has written lectures about everything under the sun from what real Afrikan manhood is, to understanding black male/female relationships in america.

He is one of the greatest Pan-Afrikanists the world ever produced and he wrote the masterpiece
BLUEPRINT FOR BLACK POWER

an 856 page description on how we can attain educational, political and economic power in the world (and after a year and a half I read every single one of those pages).

here's a sample of his work (I want the guys to look at this)

disclaimer: WARNING views are extreeeeeeemly controversial. View at your own risk of WAKING UP!

LOL
Extreemly controversial isn't it.
But anyway, let me know who your favorite is. I don't want you to be influeced by this at all lol (impossible).
Just please, do your best!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Tough question because we are so used to thinking in the present. It's a question we need to ask ourselves though because what we do now will have an effect on where we are in 5 years, in 50 years and where our children are in 500 years. We often don't think about how what we do now has an impact on what happens to us later. But it is very important that we consider this sometimes. So do you want to be married with kids. Do you want to be make more and have more money to spend. Wuz up family, let a brother know!

stop settling for less in your relationships. you have the power to change your partner for the better. if you have an open mind don't be afraid to click here to learn more.
