When will we learn?

The following is for mature self-respecting black people who are tired of others getting away with unjustly mistreating us.

"there's more of us then them"
TUPAC SHAKUR

" Any police officer can shoot and kill any member of our community with impunity. They don’t mind doing it because they get a paid vacation when they do so. We have to create a security force with our own weapons, our own strategies and tactics, our own internal protection against any group of men who unfairly assaults any member of our group."

James Tubman

Comment i made from 7 Responsibilities Every Man Has To Fulfill In Life. Am I wrong about this?

Normally i don't talk about issues in the news because i don't let the media focus my attention on what they think i should be thinking about. But unfortunately this story got to me not necessarily because of the heinous nature of the crime (which we shouldn't be surprised about) but because of the typical response of our leadership (click here to read an account of the trial)

Everyday police officers unlawfully assault or murder members of our community. And almost everytime there is a major murder or assault committed against a member of our community, and the officers are prosecuted for their crimes, they are acquitted.

The local, state and federal governments have ignored or instigated the unjust treatment of our black men in the inner cities by policemen. They have turned a deaf ear to the cries, moans and harangues of the women crying in the streets after a police man has murdered their unarmed child in cold blood.

What do you do when the governement that you pledge allegiance to, that you travel to far away places to kill and labor for, that you swear to uphold and defend with your very life wants you dead? Sounds like an exaggeration right lol?

If you look at the census for a given year and look at the race of men that have been most frequently assaulted and killed by the police, you will find that the men that were killed were over 95% black. How do you explain this?

You mean white people never try to assault a cop or resist arrest? Do you watch cops lol? It happens all the time. Why don't you hear about white men being killed as frequently as black men by policemen?

How do you make a government that fails to see your humanity listen to you when you are being mistreated by them and they have basically gave a segment of the community a free pass to kill you if they want?

Please answer this question in the best way you possibly can.

i have been posting this a lot this week....

n chapter, thirty-two of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn there is a boating accident. Huck's Aunt Sally asks if anyone was hurt. Huck then replied, "No'm. Killed a nigger" (Twain, 213). Aunt Sally then said, "Well, its lucky; because sometimes people do get hurt"(Twain, 213).

i think many white people still have that attitude today

there's not a lot of value for the life of black people in this country unfortunately

if we really valued ourselelves then we would live according to the eye for an eye policy

we have that policy with ourselves but we don't seem to have that policy for others who abuse us

I stumbled on your blog but i like what im seeing. oh well...i diid follow the proceedings and i must confess that its pathetic how those cops were given a pat on the back for prematurley terminating the life of a bright young man. I was concerned though that the cops requested that they not be tried by a jury because of teh media coverage of the saga, and that was granted. A re you kidding me, you give such an aggravated issue to a white man, when the victim here is black. What do expect? like you said, the system does not give a hoot when it concerns a black man, cos the statistics are against him anyways.....But to think that three out of the five cops where black men gave a twist to this story. How do we expect others to take care of us when we cant take care of ourselves?

Sory i said three black men, its actually two. and i just read the story on wikipedia.he was drunk. so flipping what that does not justify, 50 shots. what happenened to shooting the person on the legs or hand to prevent an assault on an officer. but 50 shots to his vital organs and someone is trying to justify their actions? oh well

This story was indeed an upset!

That's why it is sooooooooooo important for us (BLACK FOLK) to encourage our children and ourselves to become judges, lawyers, doctors, politicians ETC...

In smmary, key figures in our society "BY ANY MEANS NECCESSARY"!!!

Sele Akobo(curvyice) said...

I agree with freedom on black folk going to school and becoming key figures in society. we get so comfortable with teh status quo of been sports icons or been entertainers , we need education. without education, we aint jack and we cannot go anywhere.

@curvyice... thank you for stumbling

i hope you didn't get a scrape lol

we need to see how the rich protect their communities from police brutality then we will have a good idea on how to protect ourselves

it's only the lack of knowledge that keep us being killed by policemen

if you have a good mind you can get what you want from this wicked government

thank you

i'll talk to you again soon lol

@b-more... it hurts me too

and the other men who have been prematurely wasted by policemen hurt too

you look at WJZ 13 everyday or FOX 45 and look at how cops are arbitrarily killing us

where is our justice from the government tht we elected

thank you bapaliscious lol

@freedom... your positive solutions are so needed today

i thank you for your positive contribution to this issue

i don't know if you know this but that statement sounds like something that you would get out of the secret lol

i don't know if you are familiar with that lol

@curvyice #2... i agree with you ice that is curvy lol

it's like many of us are shooting for the smallest target in the sea lol

and we need good solid basic education

and we as black people need to be the educators

no other group on this earth allows another group of people to educate themselves

thanx again

man this is so true.

i have no answer... but this just made me sad.

my younger brother and his friend were filling out applications the other day at target. a police officer actually WAITED in the parking lot for them to fill out the apps, go back inside and drop them off, and then turn out the parking lot before he pulled up and stopped them.

when my brother asked what they had been pulled over for, the man told them to get out of the car.

when he asked again and said "i have a right to know." ..the officer pulled out a pair of cuffs and said "oh, i'll show you your rights." and slapped some cuffs on his friend.

pissed me off. his friend actually had to pay $300 to get out of jail for something completely made up by the officer.

it's a shame the power that police officers have. and what they do with it.
