Im thinking about moving, where should i move to?

Recently i just got my hands on a good chunk of money and i feel like fleeing the state of maryland.

I feel like im too dependent on my family for help (even though i live by myself) and i feel like exploring the world to see what else is out there.

Im 27, dont have any kids, in very good shape, aint tied down to a job so where should i go and why?

I wanna go somewhere there is plenty of opportunities to make money but the cost of living is still not that high.

I would reallly like to go somewhere thats warm or at least not so cold in the winter.

can somebody give me a clue please.

Im incapable of making a decision of this magnitude for myself lol.

I live in this little town in Texas. I just moved here. But the cost of living is cheap, we rent a 3 bedroom house for 350, and in the process of buying a fixer upper house for next to nothing. The weather is pretty warm. I just moved here in Feb. so I don't know the extent of winter. But in Feb. it was nice. jeans, t-shirt, jacket. Right now we're still wearing shorts, but you need a jacket in the morning and afternoons. the summer was hot than a motha. But the breeze was good. There is nothing black here. So if you want to start your own black business it would be great. We need a radio station, some black hair stores, salons, barbershops, etc... So there is definetly money out there if someone is willing to get it. Downfall, its boring as hell. Nearest anything (besides walmart) is at least an hour away.

So little country towns in Texas would be good. If you could handle boredom or make your own fun.

I heard that Houston is a good place...for what you are looking for. Of course, I'd suggest having visited somewhere before moving there.
You could always come visit Cal...I am here for a month I think before heading back to what is nwo my home...Maryland.
Or move to NYC...I tell ya, give it a year and it will change your life, your outlook, and your sense of self.

Thanks for stopping by... :)

James,
The grass is always greener on the other side. We always want to go 'somewhere else' with the idea that it will be better than where we are now. Folks in smaller towns want to move to a bigger city. Folks in Ohio want to move to Atlanta. We all too often live under the 'anywhere but here' mentality. Does Maryland not offer many opportunities? Maybe you can stay close to where you are, but get out of your general area if it's a fresh start/change you're looking for. Otherwise, I'd say save or invest the money you've recently come into, thank God for the support and love of your family (you know they're there for you if you need them)...meet a nice girl, settle down and be thankful for every little thing God has graciously blessed you with. Ewww. I think I mighta just started a controversy. Imagine...me!:)

Peace,
Michele

Though I decided to stay in the ATL a little longer, I'm not a big fan of it. Warm weather? Yes. Low cost of living? That actually depends; it's not as low as people think - especially if you want a nicer neighborhood that's near lots of things to do. And then there's the traffic. But, if you're will to work hard, there are tons of opportunities. I agree with the other blogger about Charlotte. I was just there and it's definitely up and coming.

Don't come to St. Louis, that's for sure. Just trust me on that.

I lived in Atlanta and I like it a lot, I just ended up getting married and have been in St. Louis ever since. Like someone else said, the cost of living depends, but the real downside is that there is ALWAYS too much traffic.

Charlotte - I don't know. I looked there in 1999 and they were saying the same thing then, it's the next Atlanta. From what I can tell, the infrastructure is all wrong for it to be a bustling Metropolis. The cost of living, for my taste, wasn't that much different from the ATL or STL.

Seeing as how you are in Maryland, near the DC Metro area, Atlanta will likely be the most comfortable for you. You would have to hustle to make it in a small business because there are a lot of entrepreneurs there. Charlotte might be too slow for you. Just depends on where you are. I would honestly pray and see what comes of it.
