Black people just don't get it: The most important part of an election is before the vote not during.

When you want to do something in life, you can't just hope that things will get better. You have to make sure that they will be better by doing the necessary things to make that idea a reality. The same principle goes with politics.
If we want to see real progress in the Black community amongst the average person then we are going to have to BUY our politicians. Now I know this sounds so immoral and indecent, but this is the way politics is run in America. You have to pay to play.
If you want to ensure that a politician works in the benefit of the people of that district then you have to pay them substantial amounts of money to see that they do just that. And then you get the people out to vote for him.

Let me explain something. Politics is all about money, period. When you elect a person to represent you, that person has access to millions if not billions of dollars that they give away to their constituency in the form of grants, guaranteed loans, contracts etc.
And this is why we vote people into office. Not so we can get our nuts off by telling the world that we have a Black this and a Black that. Not so we can get somebody cute into office, but because that person is going to bring us back the money that we need to do what we have to do to make our communities better.
This is the one and only reason you elect people to represent you because when the time comes to decide who gets what you want your honcho to be in their telling the others "see me over."
Now is Obama going to do this.
Is he going to designate a significant amount of resources to enhancing the lives of Blacks in America. Who knows. What I do know is that we can't just assume that he will. We have to pay him off, put an agenda in front of his face and say "this is what you need to do for us."
Black people are supposedly only 12 to 15% of the population of this nation (all nationalities (Caribbean, African and others)). So if you give us a small portion of the contracts, subsidies and other benefits we'll be OK.
A few billion invested in the lives of Blacks can dramatically improve our condition in this nation. But we have to pay him off in order to have a chance of getting what we want.

stop settling for less in your relationships. you have the power to change your partner for the better. if you have an open mind don't be afraid to click here to learn more.

A lot of public figures seem to be shelling out CASH for Obama's campaign. Oprah for example. I think that for those of us who don't have the money, our contribution is participating, being active in politics and voting...

@ms. puddin...we have the money collectively

if a million black people gave 100 dollars that's 100 million he has

if you get the book Blueprint for Black Power or Self-Help and Entrepreneurship in Black America you'll see a number of examples where the average person shelled in their little money to create a business or institution

thanx puddin, lol

Money has Power!

But it is unfortunate how wasteful we can be with it.

thank you for this entry cuz it's the damn truth. all one has to do is check out who some of the most powerful folk on capitol hill are...the LOBBYISTS. the ones who give the most money are the ones who get their way. nra anybody?!?

and yeah, we've got the money. i think the problem is too many black folk aren't empowered. in other words, they don't believe they've got the power to make a difference on any level.

i hope folk ain't assuming obama is on the lookout for the black community. i mean really, if that was a major part of his platform, he'd NEVER stand a chance, cuz then folk would be like "he ain't looking out for the other 88% of america..."

@nikki... i love your intelligence

this a rule that we have to learn

many of us don't believe that we have the power that we have

rest assured black people have A LOT OF POWER IN THIS COUNTRY

we have over 10,000 elected officials who have some kind of influence on where money goes

we have mayors in charge of whole cities

we have contorl of highways, railways, telephone systems, internet

oh i need to stop

you're getting me too riled up lol

WoW. You broke that down, Tubman. Tell it like it is and let the world be damned. No wonder Obama got Oprah on his team. LOL. Seriously, great post. I love my educated and informed people. Especial those who share the information and education.

1 day after registering as an independent I did my little 'investigation' on Obama. I'm not voting man. I just don't buy the Obama love-fest. I almost did...but not anymore

True!

@omo... we gotta share this information

it's very important that we put relevant factual information out here for our people

this is just the begining

@fezzzzzzzzz...

i am also registered as an independent

and i don't know if i'm gonna vote at all

i really don't know too much about what he intends to do for us

but like i said we can buy him off or anybody else

most people are just gonna vote him because they feel that a black president is a sign of progress

i don't know

I have been following USA politics so much....
one columnist in our local dailies wrote a funny piece about blacks and Obama ..
we sent him more than 100.000 e-mails .. and he had to apologise..
For example he wrote that Obama can't even win in S. carolina...

Obama needs some strong, weathly blacks to support him now...

James Tubman said...

@honey...he doesn't have the backbone

even if he did why would he want to be president of the united states

that is what i think we should ask ourselves

why would any self respecting black person want to be head of this evil and wicked nation
