Why Do We Hate Each Other So Much!

I dont understand it. I consider myself to be a pretty jolly person. So when I walk around town, on the bus stop, in McDeath (McDonalds) or anywhere else, i try to speak, be nice and courteous but people just treat me bad. Maybe it's just a figment of my imagination, but whenever i look at TV or interact with other Blacks, in most cases they are just angry LOL. I wish I could let them know thats it really not that serious. You look on TV and theres always some beef going on between us. The rich and middle class getting on poor people, celebrities fighting each other. Lets's have a national love day for black people where no matter what happens we have to be nice to each other on that day. Then maybe we can expand it to a week then maybe a month, we have a month for everything else (history, music, black women). Let's go one day without criticizing, fighting with, humiliating any black person. Let's be a little more nice to each other. Please dont hate me for this post lol.

You know what, it is just easier most times to be mean, not speak, be rude and ignorant. In this day and age, it takes a lot of effort to be nice, curteous, humble and to put others first. But, I believe it is possible and necessary. I am down with you and I am not mad at the post. BTW...did not know that Talib Kweli got that sample from steel pulses' tight rope.

i havent heard that one

what song is that from

i know it is so much easier to just be indifferent

we see and interact with so many on a day to day basis

i guess i just wish that everyone i interacted with was nice lol

im selfish like that

yeah,...I agree with you that we blacks are always angry...at the system, the whites, the greens, the colorless.....just angry...

The song is from Talib's latest CD Eardrum. It is called "Hostile Gospel Part 2: Deliver Me" and features none other than "Sizzla" Kalonji.

I the opposite of hate you for writing this post...lol. You sound like such a lovely guy.

I think some black people use anger as some kind of mask to cover up their insecurities and so on, possibly caused by oppression. Tis quite sad really because storing up negative emotions isnt going to make things better.

@afrobabe... why babe, why

im a jolly guy

i would like to for once meet someone ho is as jolly as i am

i guess when you look at our personal lives there is a lot to be angry about

but damn, it's really not that serious

@KC2... talib's my man

i might want to check that out

and if you might want to listen to more steel pulse you might want to check out their albums "handsworth revolution" and my personal favorite "erath crisis"

tight rope is off that album

ooh sorry minky :)

that is so true minky

it really isnt going to make things better

as matter of fact it will makr things worse because you'll probably feel guilty or ashamed for being negative about it later

no positive outcome can come out of negativity

and you might be right about the lovely guy thing

at least when im nice lol

when im not so nice then thats a differnt story

I second that emotion.

We as a race of people in the US seemed to be very angry. Will the bitterness of slavery and oppression last forever? Even so, why do we aim most of our hate at each other?

A change is needed, maybe Obama is ushering in the beginning of a new feeling for all black Americans.

Sounds like everyday folk in NY. Idk why people are so upset most of the time? Especially those that have so much to be thankful for.

Last time I saw BET was during a commercial of some show called Hot Ghetto Mess or some crap like that and i'm like wow no one else is offended by this?

@dejanae... welcome back baby

some may use anger as a sheild but does it work

i guess it does if you want to propell people from you but some people dont deserve unwanted tension from others

i think we should find a better way of dealing with each other because in the end anger hurts the one afflicted with it

@whozhe... thanx for stoping by homie

you brought up a great point that i think is at the heart of many of our problems

in psychology its called displaced aggression

where someone is afraid to take their anger out on the source of their problems so they take it out on an innocent target like their next door neighbor, somebody on the bus or somebody else that didnt start anything with them

when you are afraid to take your frustration on the appropriate target, the government, the police force, the parasitic racists that run the stores in our community then you will take your frustartion out on people who look like you

thanx for the thought

@cruzin... that hot ghetto mess is a mess

its really a disgrace to ALL black people whether you got money or not

because all races who look at that will see all of us like that no matter how much money we have

@muze... what the hell is wrong with us lol

i dont get it

thats not completely true

i know that all of us have a right to be angry when we look at all the things weve suffered from in this country

but we need to find someway to still be cool with each other because its only through collective activity that we will eventually save our people

@hello LG... glade to see you hunny

insecurity may be the cause but i think they need to get hip to the game because in the long run anger hurts yourself more than others

in most cases the people that you are angry at dont care anyway lol

Giving a large and ridiculously jolly smile works for me. Forces others to return the gesture!
